Seventh Annual “Get Your Gold On” Basketball Social
Kent State University’s Alumni Association is hosting the seventh annual “Get Your Gold On” for the men's basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The event will feature a pre-game social and buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the MAC Center 3rd Floor Blue and Gold Loge before the Kent State Golden Flashes take on the Miami Redhawks at 7 p.m.
Not only will the 32nd annual Varsity “K” Hall of Fame inductions occur during the game’s halftime, but the game will be the last opportunity to watch the Golden Flashes play at home before the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Cleveland on March 11.
Nancy Schiappa, associate director of alumni relations says, “The event lets alumni have fun while supporting the Golden Flashes.”
Doris Brown, ’56, has participated in many alumni activities since graduation and encourages others to attend events such as the basketball social.
“I feel the alumni have a responsibility to be involved in the guidance and growth of their university,” Brown says. “Attending university functions renews old acquaintances, establishes new ones and familiarizes one with campus life.”
Blain Kisling, '81, has attended past basketball events and plans to attend this year’s social, as well.
“My wife and I love Kent State and we love Kent State sports,” Kisling says. “The social is a chance to see friends and catch up – it’s also a good, relaxing time at a great value.”
The cost to attend for alumni members is $15 (for the buffet and a game ticket) or $10 (for the buffet only). The cost for non-members is $30 (for the buffet and a game ticket) or $15 (for the buffet only).
