The Kent State Alumni Association is hosting its Fourth Annual National Alumni Day of Service, encouraging alumni nationwide to make a difference in their local communities. Show your Golden Flash pride and volunteer with us on Saturday, April 21.

Habitat for Humanity - at their new Restore site located at 1510 S. Water St, Kent, OH 44420 (in the old Callahan’s Carpet building.) Volunteers will assist with stock and displays. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. http://www.habitat.org/
Loaves and Fishes - FULL (registrations are now closed for this location)located at First United Methodist Church, 263 S. Prospect St., Ravenna, OH 44266. This is an outreach ministry to feed those who are in need from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided to volunteers. http://www.fumcofravenna.com/
Haven of Rest, a faith based rescue mission, serves as a light to the homeless community in and around the Akron area, offering food, shelter, safety, drug rehabilitation and hope to those most in need. Haven of Rest is located at 175 East Market Street in Akron, OH, 44308. Volunteers will meet at the donation center in building 207 (meet at back of building/north side) and will help on site from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. http://www.havenofrest.org/
Akron Canton Regional Food Bank is located at 350 Opportunity Pkwy 44307 (on the corner of Opportunity and Dart Street – Dart is a one way street). Volunteers will do a variety of activities from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm such as: sort/inspect donated items, label bags for repack or label bottles for soap project, dispense liquid soap, repack bulk items into smaller quantities. Dress accordingly; working inside a warehouse. *Parking/building entrance will be at the shipping and receiving lot (Opportunity Pkwy. – gated area, but will be open for volunteers). Please DO NOT park against the wall facing Opportunity Pkwy. As you enter into the gated area, you will see three dock doors – the Volunteer Entrance is the first door to the left of the three doors and it will be unlocked. Someone will be in the area to greet and direct you.
CLEVELAND - FULL (registrations are now closed for this location)
City Mission – Laura’s Home a women’s crisis center. Volunteers will work from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on an indoor window cleaning project or outside window project (weather permitting). Laura's Home is located 18120 Puritas Avenue, Cleveland, OH, 44135-3832. www.thecitymission.org/lauras-home

Domestic Violence Project, Inc. located at 720 19th St NE, Canton 44714 (corner of 19th St. & Spring Ave – one block East of Market Ave). Volunteers will be painting various rooms from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. *Volunteers are directed to fill out the Volunteer Paperwork - (confidentiality_statement__stark_co._.pdf). Lake County, OH Alumni Chapter
Lake County Historical Society is located at 415 Riverside Dr., Painesville, OH 44077-5321. 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The group will be raking and weeding the gardens; scraping walls and painting a museum room(s), and other projects. Light jobs will be available for those volunteers who don't want to do physical work. Lunch will be provided for the volunteers. River Clean Up (Scioto River) The group will be focusing on cleaning up the banks of the southern portion of the Scioto river from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The group will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Audubon Park (Scioto Audubon 400 W. Whittier Street 43215) for a light breakfast and car pool to the trailhead of the Southern Scioto Bike Trail. Dress accordingly and work gloves are strongly encouraged. Southern CA Alumni Chapter
Veteran’s Administration West Los Angeles Medical Center - Volunteers will participate in socialization activities with patients and assist staff escorting patients to the dining hall from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. We will meet at the Community Living Center (11301 Wilshire Blvd., West Los Angeles (just west of the 405 freeway)) on the West Los Angeles Medical Center Campus. Parking is in Lot 36 (off of Grant Avenue) adjacent to the Community Living Center. The contact will be the Recreation Therapist on call that day. Raleigh/Durham – Triangle Area NC
SEEDS (South Eastern Efforts Developing Sustainable Spaces, Inc.) is a non-profit community garden whose goal is to teach people to care for the earth, themselves and each other through a variety of garden-based programs. SEEDS is located at 706 Gilbert Street, Durham, North Carolina 27701. Volunteers will be participating in the DIG program (Durham Inner-City Gardeners) gardening with youth. This program helps with youth development and leadership. Volunteers will work from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At 12 p.m. the group will go to a local restaurant for lunch. http://www.seedsnc.org/contact.htm
